This is the story of a man we are calling Robert. Robert struggled as a heroin addict for most of his adult life and this is the tale of his addiction and how he helped others after his recovery. After Robert got searched at the gas station, his car was then searched. The police found a case that Robert had the remainder of his heroin in. They asked him what it was and Robert said that he was so high he just said “That’s my case.” He said that he could not even think of an excuse of what to tell them. The police looked in the case and found the very large amount of heroin Robert had in it. He had so much that he was arrested for possession with intent to deliver. He said that the heroin really was just for he and his friend and he had no intention of selling any of it, but there was no way to convince the police of that fact because there just was so much.

Roberts Goes Jail and Then to Narconon

When Robert went to jail he broke down and called his father. His dad did not answer and Robert left him a message. He was high out of his mind so the message was very hard to understand. Robert then called his sister and told her what was going on. Some of his friends got enough money to bail him out of jail and then Robert went back out onto the streets. He was there for a few weeks before his sister decided that she wanted to help him go to rehab. She called the other members of her family and even talked to their father. He was the only one that had enough money to send Robert to a good rehab. Roberts little sister was the only one of the children who was close enough to their father to be able to convince him to help his son. She said “Dad, please help my big brother, I am afraid he is going to die if he does not go to rehab.” Once she was able to convince him to help Robert, the family started looking for rehab. They found Narconon on the Internet. The counselor there told them that needed to find Robert and put him on a plane and send him to Narconon. The family started looking for him in the streets of the big city where he had gone back to once he got out of jail. After a few days of searching they were able to find him and when they did he looked terrible. His family had not seen him in a couple of years and he was so skinny and malnourished that he looked like he had just come out of a prison camp. His bones jutted out all over the place and his clothes barely would stay on him. They took him home and watched him go through withdrawal. His family gave him a drug test and he tested positive for heroin and cocaine. He vomited and stayed in the bed for three days and then the family sent him in a plane off to the Narconon that is in Oklahoma. It was good that they sent him to a rehab out of his area so he was able to get away from the people, places and things that contributed to his addiction.

Narconon Was Hard But it Worked

Robert said that when he did the Narconon program it was different than any other program he had ever been to in his life. He was not used to it and he began to crave heroin really badly. Then Robert did the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program and he said that that was when the light bulb began to go off in his head. He said after that point he really began to focus on what he was doing and really worked through his issues and learned how to communicate with his family again. He came to terms with all the misdeeds that he had committed in his life and learned how to make up the damage moving forward. He reconnected with his children and was able to become a part of their lives again. He said that going through the Narconon program was one of the hardest things that he ever did, but it helped him more than he ever imagined rehab would be able to.

Robert Makes Up the Damage to His Community

Once Robert finished the Narconon Program he went to court to face his charges. He had to go to prison for eight months and then do community service. As a part of his community service he decided that he wanted to set up Narconon meetings in the jail where he had been incarcerated. He met with officials and was able to implement this plan. He said that it really made him feel good to be able to help people learn the tools that they needed to get off of drugs instead of selling the heroin or cocaine to them that they were addicted to. He said that many of the people would come up to him and tell him how much he had helped them and the feeling that he got from that was better than any high he had ever experienced. Once he had completed his community service he went on to help other people find the Narconon program and handle their addiction forever. He says that he hopes he will always be able to help people get off of drugs and he is so happy that he has been given the opportunity to do so now in the present. When he sees how happy families are to get their loved ones back from the throws of their addiction, he says that there is no better feeling available on this earth. Robert now visits with his children regularly and is an active member in his family. He says life is good.
