Chapter Two

 

This is chapter two in the story of a girl we will call Tessa who went to Narconon Rehab Program.

The last we heard, Tessa had just smoke marijuana for the first time with her mother and brother

 

Tessa Tries Marijuana for the Second Time

 

The next week after the first time Tessa tried marijuana with her mother and brother, she came home to find them smoking pot again, this time in her brother’s room. Again, her mother offers her some. This time Tessa tries again, and she inhales. She gets very high, but thought that it was weird and did not really like the feeling all that much. She was nine at the time. At this point in her life she does not start smoking pot regularly.

 

Tessa and Her Mom Move To the East Coast

The year Tessa was nine years old; her mother finished writing her fathers autobiography. Since she no longer had any work left in Arizona, she moved with Tessa to New Jersey to accept a position teaching gifted and learning disabled children.

When Tessa moved to New Jersey she had to make all new friends. She felt out of place and did not like it very much. She did not have to stay in New Jersey for very long, however. After a year of working at the special needs and gifted children program, it was shut down. Her mom found another job in New York.

Tessa and her mom found another apartment in Brooklyn New York, when Tessa was ten years of age. Brooklyn proved to be quite the culture shock for Tessa. There were many immigrants that lived in Tessa’s neighborhood and they all were very proud of their heritage. Tessa was one hundred percent Italian, and she said that when she lived in Arizona it never meant much, but once she moved to Brooklyn it meant a lot. Tessa was preppy hippy kid and she was surrounded by Italian girls who teased their hair six inches high off of their heads. She said she did not really know what to make of it and she did not really like the way that the other girls dressed.

Tessa’s other family also lived in Brooklyn, so she was able to see them a lot more. She said that this was one aspect of Brooklyn that she did really like.

Tessa went to a very expensive private school when she moved to Brooklyn that her father paid for. She had trouble making friends at first and she did not know how she was going to fit in. Meanwhile, her mother had to make a long commute everyday. This meant that Tessa did not get to spend as much time with her mom. She did not like this and neither did her mother.

Tessa Tries Mushroom

One weekend Tessa’s brother comes home for another visit. This time he brings Psilocybin mushrooms with him. Tessa’s mom and brother make psilocybin mushroom tea. They gave Tessa a big cup of it, which she drank. She said that she got very high from the tea and started tripping. She said it was really weird and that her mother and brother and her watched weird movies that were supposed to be good to watch while tripping. She said that she did not really like it all that much, but her mother and her brother had a very good time. She said that she just remembers them laughing and talking a lot, while Tessa sat on the family couch sucking her thumb. She knows this meant that she was freaked out because Tessa never sucked her thumb, even as a small child. She said that she did not completely freak out because her mom and her brother were having such a good time. She said she did not want to do mushroom again, at least not then.

 

Tessa and Mom Move Again

Tessa’s mother became increasingly frustrated with the commute to her new job. Tessa was equally as frustrated with the situation, so when her mom asked her if she thought it would be a good idea for them to move again, Tessa said yes.

Tessa’s mother found a new job in New Jersey again. They moved back there, but this time to a really nice part of New Jersey. It was a very well to do town, a place where a lot of wealth stock brokers had homes.

The first day of school Tessa walked down to a local gas station and bought a pack of cigarettes. She said that she knew it was going to be hard for her to make new friends in her new school and maybe if she went with a bad girl rebel image it would make it easier for her.

It was hard for Tessa to make new friends at her school, and the people it was easiest to make friends with were the pot heads and hippies. Tessa said it was around this time that she really started smoking pot. She smoked pot everyday.

Although she and her mother did not have a lot of money, Tessa’s father was very wealthy. She said she went to a school where all the kids came from a lot of money and although she and her mother did not have a lot at their house, the other kids could tell there was money some where in her family.

After a while Tessa did eventually make friends with a lot of the kids in the school. She was a nice friendly girl, and she was able to get along with everyone. The hippies liked her because she was one of them and the preppy rich kids liked her because she knew their language.

Pretty soon Tessa had a few best girl friends. She would hang out with them all the time. She stayed friends with them all through middle school and high school. When some of them started using harder drugs than marijuana Tessa was right there along with them.
