This is the story of one man who went to Narconon for his heroin and cocaine addiction. We will call him Jay to protect his identity. Jay grew up in a single parent home on the northern east coast of the US. He usually lived with his mom but would go and visit his father occasionally. His father was an alcoholic and very abusive to him and Jay said that he was very happy that he did not have to see him often. He said that when he did see his father he was constantly assaulted either verbally or physically and no matter what he did, he never seemed to be able to make his father proud. His father was a wealthy business man who had created his own success and Jay wanted to be like him very much. Jay said that he realized it was not right that his father treated him so poorly, but Jay said that he still wanted to make his father proud some how, no matter what it took.

Jay’s School Career

When Jay was in school he said that he did not make very good grades. He was the class clown and was always getting into trouble. Some of his father’s anger was transferred to Jay as well because he also got into trouble for fighting with other boys. As he got older he became more and more bitter from the abuse that he received from his father. He said he would see all the happy kids who made good grades and look down on them with disgust. He said that as soon as he was exposed to drug use, he took it up with abandon. He started smoking marijuana when he was thirteen and by the time he was sixteen he was selling drugs to other kids. This was in the late 1980’s and before long the drug trends of that time caught up with Jay’s chosen occupation. He started selling cocaine when he was seventeen and shortly thereafter dropped out of school.

Jay Uses Heroin

When Jay was nineteen he was making a lot of money from selling cocaine. He said that he would use it himself sometimes, but he never really got addicted to it. He said he would also smoke marijuana but all in all he was not really addicted to any drug until he tried heroin. One of Jay’s buddies was a dope fiend and when Jay was around him he always looked really high. Jay knew what he was doing, but for a long time was scared to try heroin, particularly because he did not want to shoot up. He asked his friend about it and his friend said that it was not really necessary for Jay to shoot heroin up to be able to use it. He told Jay that he could snort it and still get high. Jay decided that sounded cool and proceeded to use heroin for the first time. Jay said that as soon as he felt the high he knew that this was the drug that was going to bring him down. Heroin was the only drug that got to Jay, it was the only drug that he said he wanted to use all the time. He did start using it all the time and before long he was physically addicted to it. He said that he had to snort heroin first thing when he woke up in the morning or he was unable to proceed with his day. He said that it did not take long before his addiction reached this point.

Jay said that he loved the way heroin made him feel and he was always trying to get as high as possible. He talked to his friend, the one who introduced him to heroin in the first place, and his friend said that if Jay ever wanted to try shooting he would help him out. He told Jay that he would get much higher and he thought Jay would really like it. Well, it wasn’t long before Jay was shooting up. Jay said that was when his life really went down hill.

Jay continued to sell cocaine and before long he started selling heroin as well. He said he pretty much lost all contact with his family at this point and his life was filled with drug addiction and criminal activity. He said that he got married and had a couple of kids with a girl that was really nice but after living with Jay for a few years she got addicted to heroin and cocaine as well. The children were taken away from them and went to live with various family members. After that Jay said that he was in and out of prison for possession of either heroin or cocaine. He said while he was in prison, he always told himself that when he got out he was not going to use again. He said that he was never able to keep to this resolution. Jay said that eventually he lost everything and moved out onto the street of the big city where he lived. He said he would sell just enough drugs to support his own habit and took to sleeping in an abandoned warehouse.

Jay Goes to Narconon

One day when Jay was walking the streets he saw his sister. She saw him and could not believe how terrible he looked. He weighed almost nothing and his clothes were torn and filthy. He said that she immediately told him to get into the car with her and said she was going to see that he went to rehab. He went with her back to her house and brought enough heroin with him to last a couple days. She started looking on the internet for a rehab for heroin addicts and found a few Narconon Reviews telling how effective Narconon treatment was for heroin addicts. She talked to a couple of different counselors, one at Narconon California and one in Narconon Oklahoma. She finally decided that Oklahoma would be better because it was the closest Narconon at that time to where the family lived.

Jay said that he is very grateful to his sister for sending him to Narconon. He said that while he was in prison he tried twelve steps but that type of treatment just did not work for him. Jay has been clean for the past ten years and says that he feels better now than he ever has in his life.
