Narconon and Cocaine Treatment

Narconon is non-traditional substance abuse treatment center that focuses on treating all types of substance abuse. Narconon has been proven to be seventy-six percent successful in helping people over come their addictions. Narconon has a different approach to treating substance abuse than other types of treatment. Narconon is the only program that addresses the physical aspect of addiction in the way the particular way that it does. It is also one of the most empowering programs availible.

Most programs address the problems that the addict or alcoholic is facing from their addiction. Narconon is more centered on finding solutions for these problems. Instead of telling someone that they are helpless to their addiction, Narconon helps the person become empowered and conquer the reasons that they started using in the first place.
Cocaine Addiction; A Brief History

Cocaine addiction is a very severe addiction. Cocaine is not as popular today as it was in the mid 1990’s, however; people struggling with this addiction truly have a battle on their hands.
Cocaine is a derivative from the coca plant. The active alkaloid in cocaine was discovered in the 1800’s. Eventually a process to isolate this alkaloid was perfected and people began using cocaine in treating all sorts of ailments. Eventually it was found that cocaine was a very addictive substance and it was finally outlawed.

People still used cocaine however. In the late 1970s and early 1980s there was a major surplus of cocaine into the United States. This is when the method to create crack cocaine was discovered. This is was the start of the crack epidemic that eventually swept across America. Since this time the crack epidemic has slowed down quite a bit, however there are still quite a few people who smoke crack on a regular basis and have an addiction to it.

Signs of Crack Addiction

  • Extreme weight loss
  • Loss of personal property
  • Loss of priorities
  • Irregular sleep patterns
  • Paranoia
  • Anorexia
  • Using dreams (dreams where the person smokes crack)
  • Desperation to obtain more crack
  • Willingness to do anything to get more crack
Cocaine addiction can be similar to crack addiction, however the symptoms are usually not as severe. Long term use of crack cocaine or powder cocaine can affect a person in many ways that are hard to overcome. A person may lose many meaningful relationships due to this type of addiction. They may lose the trust of all their family and friends and may lose all their financial property as well.
In addition to losing all meaningful relationships, the person may begin to suffer from anxiety. The person may obsess over the thought of getting more crack or cocaine even if they are trying to live a sober life. They may no longer be able to handle living life without using cocaine.

Narconon Helps Physical Cravings

One serious obstacle that people with cocaine addiction may face is physical cravings. The cause of these physical cravings can be brought about by drug metabolites that are stored in the fatty tissue. When a person uses cocaine the body breaks it down to flush it out through a process called metabolization. This is when the body converts something that has been ingested into a chemical that can be used by the body. For instance, bread is broken down into glucose, heroin into morphine. For the most part these metabolites and other waste are flushed out through the sweat, urine and feces. Small amounts of metabolites can be absorbed into the fatty tissue. These metabolites can later be released back into the bloodstream. This can cause the person to crave cocaine and the person may not even realize why they are craving. This usually happens when the person is under some sort of stress, be it mental or physical. The persons mind may be constantly affected by this phenomenon and it may cause them to wonder if they will ever be able to get the thought of getting high out of their head.

Narconon addresses this problem in the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program. During this part of the program the person undergoes a strict regimen of exercise, taking vitamins and sweating in a dry sauna. This process is set up to assist the body in naturally ridding itself of the drug metabolites and other toxins that are stored in the fatty tissues. It usually takes about one month to complete. Most people who complete this part of the program said this was a very important part of their Narconon cocaine treatment. Most of them said that it greatly reduced their physical cravings and they no longer where mentally obsessed about getting more cocaine. This treatment is also usually very effective for other people who are suffering from other addictions.

Social and Emotional Aspects of Addiction

Once the person completes this part of the Narconon program, they then go on to address the emotional and social aspects of their addiction. The courses that a person participates in at the Narconon program are of a self cognitive nature. This means that instead of a trained professional diagnosing a person and telling them the problems of their addiction, the person figures out what is going on for themselves.
They also learn the tools that they need to function in society without using drugs and come to terms with their past issues that may be holding them up from moving forward in the future with a clean slate. The person confronts many things about themselves that may be uncomfortable to face and during this time it is best if the person does not receive any type of stressful communication from the outside world.
The Narconon program is a chance for a recovering addict to really take a look at themselves and work on the issues that they need to deal with in a calm and supportive environment. The person is given the tools and positive encouragement that they need to accomplish this in a distraction free atmosphere. When the person completes the program their ability to handle life and all of its ups and downs are greatly increased. The Narconon Program boasts a seventy-six percent success rate.

Newsflash

Alcohol abuse and dependency is a very severe problem in this country today. There are many Americans who are on the borderline with their alcohol intake, perhaps because the level of stress in the average American life has gone up quite a bit in the last ten years. People, who become addicted to alcohol, usually do so because there is some problem that they feel unable to handle in their life. Because of this they resort to alcohol to help numb their negative emotions and to get their mind off of their problems for a while. The thing is that when the person comes off of the alcohol, they no longer feel better about whatever it was that was going on; in most cases they usually actually feel worse.
When a person becomes an alcoholic, what usually happens is instead of the person finally getting to the point where they are like “Ok I need to fix this problem now and get everything together and get on the ball,” the person continues to try to drink all their problems away. This does nothing for actually fixing the problems that they are encountering; instead it usually makes them much worse and actually adds more problems to the person’s plate.
