North Carolina is the fourth fastest growing state in the country and has one of the widest range of elevations from sea level to mountains. It is one of the original 13 colonies and its Blue Ridge Mountains, beaches and winding trail have lured visitors who never left, throughout the recent centuries.
Unfortunately, another area of expansion has been in the area of drug abuse. Narconon wishes to help solve this growing problem by offering a drug rehab program that works. Drug abuse is a growing factor in North Carolina and effective treatment solutions are a must.
According to 2005-2006 data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), approximately 549,000 (8%) of North Carolina citizens (ages 12 or older) reported past month use of an illicit drug. Additionally, approximately 192,000 (2.69%) North Carolina citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use within the past year. Clearly this illustrates the need for effective drug treatment. It is obvious that drug use is the root cause of much of the crime in North Carolina. Simply putting these drug addicts into the prisons is not the solution. Prisons have a very poor track record of rehabilitating drug offenders, it is clear that punishment is not the solution. Drug Rehabilitation programs offer the best outcome for both the offender and the community involved. Rehabilitation the offender allows them to become productive members of society and stops the endless cycle of crime which follows drug addiction.
Narconon is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program. Narconon was founded in 1967, and its mission also includes drug education and working with children. While many drug rehab statistics are nebulous, Narconon boasts a 76% success rate (based on a two year follow-up) through a non-traditional drug treatment program.
